The cottage

Bursteads Cottages, a place to unwind. Lovely peaceful setting, meadows leading from the garden gate. Ideal for a leisurely stroll by the brook (sometimes dries up). Sit and watch the horses grazing. In mid-summer cows stand heads over the garden fence, eyeing our sometimes uncut lawn.

Maybe you want to get away for a day or more, if only to relax with a glass of wine in the garden, perhaps with a book, or find a secluded spot in a meadow for a picnic, and just listen to the birds.

Being not far from Stansted Airport, the occasional plane may pass, but that just seems to add to a feeling of holiday.

Winter breaks beautiful also, especially when it snows. With cosy old pubs, warming fires a real treat. (bring your willies).

Bursteads Cottages falls in the middle, between the market towns of Bishop's Stortford and Sawbridgeworth. Lots of places to eat, and old pubs with good beer.

Five minutes drive form our Cottage, brings you to the wonderful Henry Moore Foundation.

There are horse riding schools locally, as well as fishing, swimming and golf. Close by playbarns for kids and Paradise Wild Life Park is approximately twenty minutes away by car.

The beautiful river stort is a lovely walk, watch out for narrow boats passing through the lock.

A large cinema and bowling alley in Bishop's Stortford, along with fine shopping.

Wonderful surrounding villages, like Much Hadham and the Pelhams to explore.

Thirty minute's drive from the lovely old city of Cambridge, and the interesting old town of Hertford.

London to Cambridge rail network nearby.

We are within a place of natural interest, with a richness of butterflies, birds and other wildlife.

Sorry no license to sell alcohol, but do supply wine glasses!

Whether it's a day, a night stop over for the Airport, business trip or trades people working in the area, or something longer, we offer you a warm welcome and a comfortable stay to all.
